Makena is one of our incredible #co-founders, and her journey with #AroundTheBendFarms has been nothing short of inspiring! Makena has worn many hats under our organization’s umbrella like urban farmer, project director, and operations. But above all, it's her passion and unwavering commitment to our mission of providing fresh, healthy food to the people of our community that truly stands out.

Originally from Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, Makena now calls Bend home, where she and our other co-founders came together with a shared vision: to enhance access to nutritious food in the high desert.

When she's off the clock, you’ll likely find Makena enjoying a strength workout, spending time with her adorable 14-year-old kitty, or foraging wild plants to create food and natural medicines.

We are beyond grateful to have Makena as part of our mission. Her drive and dedication inspire us all to do more and care more deeply about the people we serve.
